Sustainable Architecture

Sustainable design is good business. As the Architect, we have an important role in taking a design vision and transforming their space to empower success and align with our client's business goals. The Project consists of remodeling the existing one-story commercial building (2,364 SF) with new exterior interior finishes, adding a mezzanine level of 787 SF (existing building total of 3,151 SF) and structurally upgrading the building, along with changing the use from retail (M-Occupancy) to office workplace (B-Occupancy). New construction will consist of a new two-story commercial building (10,269 SF) that will have office suites and a corner cafe. While having off-site work at the intersection of Los Gatos Blvd and Shannon Road, we will be including the Safe Routes to School Program within the town of Los Gatos. The Project was recently Entitled in November 2023.

DERN Architecture + Development is now in Design Development Phase.

The Project’s goals of being Zero Net Energy (ZNE) and using a hybrid Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) + Steel Structure, has the site development and buildings will lead the next chapter of sustainable architecture in Los Gatos.
