DERN Architecture + Development joined the Architect of Record, NC2 Studio, to help with an on site architecture presence during construction. The ability to have “boots on the ground” helped NC2 Studio focus on the design and have a supporting voice through onsite reviews, observation reporting and coordination with the General Contractor and Ownership. Once we established a direct relationship with the City of Walnut Creek, moving away from a Third-Party Review, we were able to expedite any revision review and set the project up for success through the Planning, Building, Public Works and on site Inspections. DERN Architecture + Development became a reliable resource at construction coordination meetings with Deacon and their subcontractors as well as a point of contact for getting answers and direction through the construction phase.
